Tree Charter

TREE CHARTER

In 2017 more than 70 organisations from across the UK came together to call for a better relationship between trees and people with the creation of the new Charter for Trees, Woods and People.

The Tree Charter, officially launched by The Woodland Trust on 6 November 2017 marked the 800th Anniversary of the signing of the original Charter of the Forest in 1217. The Charter sets out how our local communities and trees can best benefit one another. It will serve as a resource which local councils and other organisations can use in support of their efforts to look after their local trees.

The National Association of Local Councils encourages Parish Councils, schools and local communities to be proactively involved by signing the Tree Charter.

Ash Parish Council has signed up to be a Charter branch.
